Re: Forest of Warning

As one slowly enters adulthood, one begin to feel a little bit like
Cassandra. You start to question the whole notion of absolutes that
accompanies words like "cool", and if all goes well, start instead
describing things as "Well, *I* like it". This is an idea, however,
that is completely impossible to communicate to everyone below a
certain age. The thorn of experience will always be required and the
forest of warning will always be ignored until you watch a video like
this one, and remember a time when (maybe you were 8 years old) you
would have thought this was cool.

wow. Really? Ouch. Kids, when skinny pants or fat pants, or
whatever kind of pants are really popular, and you think parents are
ridiculous for not getting it, try to picture a day when you will look
back and everything you think of as cool will look like this to your
kids.

A friend of mine recently mentioned that her mom hates the Beatles because they were so horribly popular in the past, and that this resurgence of interest / adulation of the Beatles in our generation seems similar to the next generation suddenly really revering and getting into the Backstreet Boys.

I was suddenly filled with disgust. Surely the later Beatles years deserve musical merit... The White Album? Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club? Let it be!?
